Overview
govAscend is a service based solution (SaaS) for law enforcement, public safety and other government Information Technology (IT) organizations seeking to streamline data-driven business processes. It allows users to access, capture and deliver critical information in a mobile environment.

govAscend is composed of server, client, administrative and design tools you ultimately control. It gives you the freedom to create and deploy rich and engaging applications that increase efficiency of police officers, public safety and IT personnel.

govAscend Mobile
The govAscend Mobile public safety software system runs on Windows and Windows Mobile devices, allowing police and law enforcement officers to query external databases, import, capture and validate data, scan barcodes, attach images and voice notes, as well as wirelessly send data for back-end processing. The mobile public safety software clients work with or without network connectivity, providing ultimate mobility and reliability and uninterrupted productivity. Store-and-forward functionality manages the flow of data while police officers are in the field, leveraging any available networks from WiFi to cellular 3G, CDMA and GSM. In addition, the mobile clients provide access to locally and securely stored data for use in an offline mode. The data is managed and automatically distributed from govAscend"s mobile public safety software server to all mobile clients automatically and wirelessly.

govAscend Designer
Using the govAscend Designer, administrative users can create and deploy a wide variety of query, data capture and field reporting, mobile applications that combine high fidelity presentation and XML data handling. No programming skills required. An intuitive design environment with a graphic interface allows users to specify exactly what data is to be collected, the interface layout, look and feel and business rules, as well as a printed output. Flexible workflow capabilities, combined with a wide range of data controls, such as text fields, drop-down menus, check boxes, radio buttons, signature controls and database search controls, ensure that in a few simple steps, you can create feature-rich applications that meet your business needs with the freedom to manage your processes. govAscend Designer is an integrated component, providing seamless deployment and change management of all deployed mobile public safety software applications. Newly deployed applications and modifications are managed and distributed to mobile users through the govAscend server wireless communications protocols.

govAscend Portal
The govAscend Portal is a rich client application that allows users to search, retrieve, approve and disapprove mobile public safety field reports. Users can also print reports, add comments, create and save custom search criteria and edit report data based on security level access. The portal is integrated with the govAscend.com user community for simple application sharing and downloading to provide ultimate system flexibility and expansion.

govAscend Hosted Server
The govAscend hosted server provides the underlying capabilities that enable the deployment and management of the govAscend solution components. It allows for the Mobile Client software, the Application Designer and the Portal to connect to the necessary data sources, and work in a unified manner. The server is a .NET-based SOAP compliant web service, and runs on Microsoft SQL Server and Internet Information Services (IIS).
