Implementation Overview
The University of Colorado in Boulder (CU) established its police department in 1949. Today, the CUPD responds to all crime reports that occur on campus and properties owned by the University. The Patrol Division provides 24x7x365 coverage for the campus. Uniformed officers patrol on foot, on bicycles and in patrol cars, making govAscend the perfect solution for their various needs for field reporting.

The implementation of the pilot project progressed at near lightening speed as outlined below. This rapid deployment was made possible due to the commitment of CUPD, and the ease of use and flexibility of govAscend.

• 06.23.09 - Pilot project discussions and presentation.
• 08.12.09 - Installed govAscend Web Service; team publishes two sample query forms.
• 08.18.09 - govAscend software is installed; 20 minute product tutorial is provided; CUPD modifies the sample query forms; 10 minutes later, the queries were ready for production use.
• 08.19.09 - CUPD configures their handheld devices for WiFi communications.
• 08.21.09 - In 20 minutes, CUPD published their first data collection report - Football Exclusion form.
• 08.28.09 - CUPD defines and builds printed report with our support; a 2 hour effort.
• 09.02.09 - CUPD configures their new hardware and conducts training with officers.
